Independence Day

July 4th, 2008

The fourth was a very busy day. Matt had the day off of course and it was very nice to be able to spend the day with him. I really like long weekends.

Isabella at the parade holding her flag

We began the day by getting up and heading to Oxford with our friends Sarah, Zach and Micah. Well, Micah is Isabella's friend, Sarah and Zach are ours. Anyway, Sarah invited us to go with them to the parade in Oxford. The kids had a great time waving their flags, courtesy of Sarah, and were very well behaved. Isabella wore her 4th of July pillowcase dress I found on ebay and looked oh so cute! I do have to say I have never seen so many politicians in a parade before. Thanks to the election year. They kept handing out things and I wanted to say I don't live in your county. Instead I just gave everything to Zach since they do live in Newton Co.

We all want to lunch at Zaxby's and then headed home for naps. Thank goodness for naps!

That afternoon, we went to fellow church members' home to celebrate our freedom (literal US freedom and freedom in Christ) a little more. Our church band played (Zach leads it and he is awesome, he can play pretty much anything), they BBQ a pig, chicken and beef. Isabella loved the chicken. She had is several days later and every time would say "mmm...". The kids played in the water sprinkler pool and had a great time. Isabella also got to see her "Nina" and "sing" in the band with Ms Stephanie so both of those things made her day.
