Second String

So I think it totally stinks to be second string. You know, like second string for the football team and such.
You always have to practice and work just as hard as others but only get called in if something happens to the first pick. It feels bad, makes you sad and probably jealous of the "talent" those playing on first string have.

I have been dealing with feelings like this for a while now. Obviously not in the sports area since I have never played football and haven't been very athletic recently or since before kids. I thought the feelings had disappeared but I must have just stuffed them down and tried to forget about them. I tend to do that when I don't know how or want to deal with things, especially in relationships.

Well, they have popped up again and I have been praying about them a lot more than I did when they popped up before. I have finally realized that God is trying to teach me something. Like no kidding right?

It is OK to be second string. To not be called upon unless something happens to the others. It is OK because I am supposed to be relying on God for everything I need. I often forget this and try to do things on my own. He is the one that matters the most and always lets me play for his team no matter the score. Through this life lesson I am slowly letting go of those feelings and relying on Him more. I am a slow learner sometimes, thanks God for your patience.

21 months

21 months!!! That means only 3 more until my little baby isn't little anymore. So very sad.

William is very fun these days. He has become more expressive and is able to get his point across without saying anything. He was trying to say "burger" last night and it was so funny. He was trying to so hard an forcefully and was so proud of himself. Too cute!

William continues to love his big sister and they continue to aggravate each other until mommy wants to scream sometimes.

William has now been on a boat ride and rode on the big tube with me and Bethany. I don't have any pictures of this but he seemed to enjoy it. He just sat there smiling.

William and his "big" sister. I get asked if they are twins quite frequently. I just laugh and say they are 2 1/2 years apart.

Happy 4th

We were able to spend the 4th of July with my family down in Statesboro. Everyone was there. All 26 of us. We played in the pool, ate and hung out. I don't have many pictures since I was in the pool the majority of the time and I forgot to get copies of Jennie's before I left. So here are some I got of William.

Enjoying her new favorite food.
He ate it ALL down to the rind and including the seeds.

Look at his messy face.

Contemplating jumping off the diving board.

His first jump after some careful consideration and trust.
He ended up jumping off the diving board more times than I can count and loved every minute of it. He didn't mind going under the water and even jumped a few times before I was ready. Later we moved to the shallow end where I let him swim up to the surface before I picked him up. I think he will end up being a great swimmer next summer. Isabella was much more hesitant and would only jump off in her float. She did end up playing with Papa and requesting to go under the water later on in the day.
Thanks for the fun memories.
