Before our ride from the airport to the resort
We (Krista, Michael, Matt and myself) had a great time in Costa Rica. We were blessed to have great weather even though it was the rainy season. We stayed in the Los Suenos resort near Jaco (pronounced Haco in spanish).
I will start at the beginning. Michael received this trip from his friend Carter who could not work it into his schedule. So, Thank you Carter!! Thank you also to our parents for keeping Isabella during the week for us. I know you all enjoyed yourselves and we really appreciate it!The view from our condo
We were originally on separate flights (Matt and me on Delta, using frequent flyer miles from Matt's dad, and Krista and Michael on a flight that stopped in Houston). However, we ended up on the same delta flight because of the storms on Sunday that caused major delays and cancellations. We waited in the security line for only 4o minutes or so which was very good considering the line started at the baggage claim area. We arrived in Costa Rica on Monday July 14 around 12:00 Costa Rica time. Costa Rice is 2 hours behind us this time of year because they don't do daylight savings time. After arriving, we finally found our driver, gathered our things and hit the road. We all thought we are going to DIE on the drive to the resort. It took about two hours to drive the winding roads in the rain and tailgating every car in front of us. But we made it and stopped at the grocery store on the way in. Thank goodness Krista knows more Spanish than the rest of us. She was able to guide us around the store and help deal with the cashier.
"Mucho gusto"! (That means "Thank you very much" and "Nice to meet you" as we learned on the trip.
Our adventures
"Costa Rican Kangaroo"
Matt and Michael played golf Tuesday morning and we followed them for the first 5 holes. We saw Costa Rica Kangaroos, they were really some type of animal in the raccoon family, toucan, macaws, iguanas, and monkeys. While they finished gold, Krista and I went to the pool. We met up with them after golf and Michael said "We're wasted". Not literally, but after a beer, cigar and no food. They were exhausted. We went back to the pool and then headed for the Canopy Tour in the rain forest. I was not able to go in my delicate condition, Haha. But I did ride up the mountain with them and back down on a tractor. Michael was soooo nervous about the canopy tour. But they all did great and had fun. I got some pictures of them zipping down the last long part. They were flying!!! We headed into Jaco that night fro some authentic Costa Rican food at Wishbone's. Then to POPS the ice cream place and did a little souvenir shopping.
On Wednesday we went to the pool at our condo in the morning and then to the pool at the beach club. Matt and I waited and waited while Michael and Krista took a little walk. On that walk, Michael started to propose but was interrupted by Krista who saw some macaws in the trees. So, he got her attention again and was able to finish asking her. I got a couple of great pictures of them walking back up to the pool area. Krista was pure giddy. They were sooo cute!!! Matt and I were glad it was over since we knew it was going to happen and had been holding onto the ring. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the condo because it rained and rained. Then went out to eat for a nice dinner and to celebrate the new engagement.
Michael and Krista after he popped the question
Thursday was pretty relaxed. We were determined to stay at the pool for as long as possible since it was our last day there. It was so hot. I sat in the pool and read
Me & Matt after dinner
Anyway, we had a great time. Thank you to all of those who helped us get there and to our parents for keeping Isabella.
