Wonderful Weekend of Weddings

Matt and I knew 3 different couples that got married this past Saturday, June 14th. Popular day, huh? Two of them happened to be family. Matt's only cousin, Jenny, and my cousin David both chose those days. They obviously didn't consult us when choosing a date since they picked the same one and we would have liked have been at both of them. Jenny asked Isabella along with our niece and nephew to be in her wedding which took place in Brunswick, GA. Therefore, her wedding won out and I certainly couldn't miss Isabella's first time in a wedding. However, we did make it to David's reception in Statesboro, GA. More on that later.Ansley and Isabella

Anyway, on to our weekend. The weekend started out with me stressing at the beginning of the week having to pack for so many different activities and locations. We had to get Isabella's flower girl dress altered because it was too long and she kept saying "off, off" when she tried it on. I thought that was a bad sign. However, after it was altered, she seemed to like it and we made a fuss over her when she tried it on, from her bow to her shoes. We left on Thursday after Matt got home from work and headed towards Statesboro to spend the night at my grandparents house. It was a good stopping place since we didn't have to drive the whole way at one time. We got up on Friday and left Statesboro around 9:15 to get to Brunswick by 11:00 to change and head to the Bridesmaids' luncheon. That afternoon all the kids had naps, thank the Lord, and we headed to the rehearsal at 5:00. Isabella did walk down the isle holding another little girl's hand during the rehearsal then had a great time playing on the steps. I thought it was a bad sign when the pastor asked if someone was planning on getting Isabella so she didn't distract from Jenny when she was walking down the isle. He did it very nicely and tactfully. I started devising our plan for the wedding and trying to figure out the best way for her to go down the isle but not stay up in the front. So, the plan was for me to be in the back with her and Matt to wait in the front and scoop her up and then for me to meet them back up in the front and take her out.

On to the rehearsal dinner, which was held a the Beach Club at Sea Island. Very nice. Kids went with babysitters, so we could enjoy the evening. We could see them from where we were which was nice. They played on the beach and ate dinner out there. A friend of ours, Sally, went out and took picture of them so they wouldn't know we were watching. They had such a good time Ansley didn't want to leave.

We slept in on Saturday and then went to breakfast. After, we spent time at the pool. The kids played, well Ansley and Andersen played in the pool, Isabella played on the steps. Had lunch by the pool and went in to take naps. The kids all took naps again which was an answer to prayer once more since today was the big day. We got ready and got the car packed after having to move our things to Matt's mom's room since we had to check out at 11:00.

Isabella, Ansley, & Andersen

The wedding started at 5:00. We got to the church around 4:15 and dressed Isabella. She was beautiful. As was the bride but she was not my focus at the time. I took charge of the children participating in the wedding since mine was the youngest. Morgan was 6, Jon 5 I think, Ansley almost 4, Andersen 2 1/2 and Isabella 2. They were a handful. Brian, Matt's brother did have Andersen. They waited very patiently for the wedding to start then I got nervous. The bridal party went down then it was the little one's turn. Jon went. Ansley and Andersen started to go, then Andersen changed his mind. So, Ansley went. Isabella was supposed to hold Morgan's hand and her flowers but she was not interested in holding her hand or the flowers. So, Isabella went by herself and then Morgan went. I was so relieved! By the time I made my way up the side, Isabella was ahead of Ansley and smiling up a storm. She was headed straight for the stairs. Luckily, Matt was in place and grabbed her before she started climbing and jumping off them. He handed her off to me and we headed to the back to wait for the end of the wedding. We took pictures after the wedding and headed to Statesboro.

Mimi and Dado

2 hours later, 8:15, we arrived at David's reception. The happy couple had arrived just before us so we didn't miss much. Isabella had a great time dancing and asking people to accompany her to the dance floor. She didn't want them to hold her hand, just to be out there with her. We were able to see all of my family and enjoyed our time there. We spent the night at my grandparents once again, thank you Mimi and Dado. Isabella slept until 10:00 the next morning so you know she was worn out. It was Father's Day so we had lunch with my parents at the hospital which sounds really weird but the food is good. We left around 1:45 and made it safely home around 6:30 after several stops. So, after an extremely eventful weekend, we were glad it was over.

She looked like such a big girl in that dress. So sweet but so sad that she's grown up that much already!
