Memories

Since Memorial Day I have been recalling some great memories from childhood. A few of their recent activities have reminded me of fun things I did growing up. My girls and I talked about some of them on our way home from our girls trip this weekend (more on the later).
Here they are in no particular order.
  • Running through the sprinklers in the yard (oh what fun!- Melissa I am sure you remember)

  • Riding bikes to/by you know who's house (Michelle- I thought you were crazy at the time)
  • Summer reading club at the library. I was not a good reader as an elementary student but I sure do love some books.
  • Jumping waves at the beach and building sand castles (We will be doing more of this in a week or so)
  • Big Chew bubble gum and Gum cigarettes.
  • School being out for the summer. Need I say more.
  • Summers at the lake knee boarding and getting sunburned.
  • Riding in Mr Lamar's horse and carriage in the neighborhood. He used to tell us a joke and if we didn't get the answer correct he would not take us.
  • The ice cream man. I didn't realize how creepy he was as a child.
  • Putting on "shows" for your parents on the swing set.
  • High school football games.
  • Your first boy/girl dance. (AWKWARD!)
  • Laughing for no particular reason and just being girls.
What memories do you have from growing up?

YOU MUST FRAME THAT LAST PICTURE!!! Heck, I might too! So precious. :)

I remember picking blackberries (and not eating them), Doug and I taking the boat out to the middle of the lake where it is very deep and swimming back and forth under the boat with the sun shining down and not being able to see of reach the bottom no matter how hard we tried, and watermelon on newspaper tablecloths. :)
