Trusting God

During our Wednesday night women's group, we discussed the 17th chapter on fear in our book. We are doing Beth Moore's So Long Insecurtity. I have really enjoyed this book and have learned several things about myself and other people. However, I love any reason to get together with this amazing group of ladies. They are from various churches and backgrounds. I love hearing the wisdom that exudes from their lives. Their life experiences and how different things have shaped them.

Like I said before, we discussed the 17th chapter in our book this past Wednesday. It was my FAVORITE! I highlighted so much in the chapter. Things I am afraid of. What trusting God should look like vs what I want it to look like.

I have always thought I trusted God for the most part. Trusted who He is, what He has done for me and his plan for my life.

After reading this part in the book:

I really started thinking about my trust in the Lord. I realized I always put conditions on my trust in Him. Like, I trust you Lord if .... Which means I am only trusting Him if he does what I want Him to or under my terms. Ouch!!!

So, I have really started to think and pray about this. Listening to my prayers and trying to make sure I am not putting conditions on my trust in God.  It has been very hard.  I have to catch myself frequently before I add a condition onto my prayer.  Then there are times I don't want to continue praying because I don't want to fully trust God with that particular prayer or area.

Have you ever really listened to what you are praying for and how you are praying?  Are you truly trusting the Lord with your prayers?
