New pass

William has 2 definite loves in his life and I am not talking about me and Matt. No, if you know William, you know that he LOVES his doggie blanket which was given to him by my good friend Melissa after he was born. We actually have 3 of them. 2 here at our house and one at Mrs. Kaye's house. Doggie is a requirement for sleeping and thus the necessity for 3 of them. We have had missing dogs before and had to trick William when it was dark by using Isabella's poodle. Not fun if he realizes he doesn't have his doggie.
His second love is his pacifier which he calls "pass". He is a "pass" man. I have tried to only use it when he is sleeping, sick, or in a stressful situation (i.e. shots at the doctor).
Collectively, he calls them dogpass. If he has one then he thinks he has to have the other. They are like Fred and Barnie, Woody and Buzz. Always together.
This brings me to our new adventure. I have debated for awhile about trying to get rid of pass. I had originally planned to do that around the time he turned 1. That didn't happen because I didn't even try since he was so dependent on it. It made things easier.
That being said. I decided that this Christmas break would be our time to get rid of pass. On Sunday I started gathering his pacifiers and cutting the tips off. Sunday night he while going to bed told Matt, "yucky pass" and told him to "ask Mommy" about a new one. So he came and got me. I ended up putting him to bed after watching him chew on his pass and take in out of his mouth a couple of times. The next morning, I went to get him and he said "yucky pass" "new pass". Poor little guy. It seems to be going well so far. He cried for a while tonight when going to bed but not too long. Matt said he hurdled the "pass" across the room wanting a new one. Oh well. Still hoping to be done with this within the week.

You are so brave to do it this early. Braden LOVED his "paci-pie" and was just past his 2nd birthday before we tried to take it away! I'm glad it is going fairly well!
